Ferns seem to unfurl overnight

Shrubs that bloon afer June should be pruned now.  These include crepe myrtle,vitex and peegee hydrangea (no other variety of hydrangea) althea and abelia. Ivy should be cut back hard.  Put out one cup of lime around each clematis vine and on ivy. 6 tbs. of epson salt per gallon of water for sick looking azaleas.  Use a cup of eqson salt worked into the ground to encurage the growth of berries on hollies in the spring and water well.
After March 15th  fertilize the whole garden.

February garden tips

On February 14th plant nasturtium and cut back roses. Do your dormant spraying. Dormant spray consist of Lime Sulphur and Dormant oil in equal parts.  Use directions on bottle to acquire correct proportions to amount of water.
Add lime to soil if you have moss. Cut back butterfly bush by 1/3.

January garden tips

Add aluminum sulfate now to  your hydrangeas for blue hydrangeas or add lime to for pink hydrangeas. In the green house start cuttings of geraniums and lantana & sow seeds of inpatients, petunia and begonia. Feed winter annuals with 888 and water regularly until there is substantial rainfall.
